Description
Spathiphyllum (spathiphyllum) is a popular houseplant due to its attractive appearance and ease of care. It is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America and belongs to the Araceae family.
Spathiphyllum has large, shiny, lanceolate, dark green leaves. The leaves grow directly from the ground and have a long, slender stem. What makes Spathiphyllum especially striking are its showy white inflorescences. The bloom consists of a spathe (a kind of modified white leaf) surrounding a light yellow spadix (an elongated flower structure). The flowers resemble a white candle and can last for several weeks.
This plant is known for its air purifying properties. It can be placed in pots or decorative vases and can be an excellent choice to beautify interiors, offices or spaces with limited light.
